Sunlight is essential to our daily life as it helps regulate the absorption and flow of calcium and phosphate in and out of our bones.
Moreover, sunlight is the major source of vitamin D which helps prevent cancer, including colon cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. Nevertheless, a mere 15-minute sun overexposure could lead UV rays to instigate abnormal skin cell growth, which could develop into skin cancer and weaken the immune system, as well as cause eye damage. In addition, the sun’s harmful UV rays also destroy collagen and connective tissues. Overexposure to sunlight will also cause fiber elastin in the skin to thicken, leading to premature aging. Therefore, to protect our skin from the sun, we must choose a sunscreen with broad-spectrum that will effectively help protect against the sun’s harmful rays. Sunscreen can be divided into 3 different types, as follows:
1. Chemical Sunscreen
2. Physical Sunscreen
3. Hybrid sunscreen
