REGISTRATION FOR FOOD LICENSE WITH THAI FDA

Same as business in general, any person or companies entering food business more than just preparing food and sell to individuals like food shop or restaurant, he/she has to get a license before doing business. For a juristic person, he/she has to start with company registration at Ministry of Commerce as company license is also one of the reference documents, then the importer can apply for import license.

For company decided to be a manufacturer, registration of factory with Ministry of Industry is the second process, and factory also requires GMP standard but if production facilities are smaller than factory size, standard will be reduced to Primary GMP. You can get GMP or Primary GMP audit from companies listed at Thai FDA.

After the company or factory is registered, and factory obtains quality standard, importer or manufacturer shall prepare list of documents for Thai FDA to register food import or production license as follows:

1) Common documents

a. Commercial registration: Copy

b. Company registration certificate from Ministry of Commerce.

c. Copy of Identification

i. House ID

ii. Company authorities ID

iii. First principle ID

iv. Task handling person ID

d. Authorization letter

i. For first principle

ii. Task handling person.

e. Rental agreement for premises and building if applicable

2) Production building

a. Plan of production building and surrounding area

b. Plan of production building area including waste water treatment and underground water

c. Plan of production building and warehouse area with accurate scale size and ratio

i. Front view with building materials (wall, door, window, roof)

ii. Side view with building materials (wall, door, window, ceiling, roof)

iii. Cut view with usage of each are, stairs, lift (not required for 1 storey building)

iv. Floor plan with detail of each floor including room size, equipment setting.

d. List of machine and equipment

e. Others 3) Office plan

Note: Documents for production facilities are not required for importer, only plan of warehouse area with accurate scale size and ratio, and office plan shall be submitted.
